Birthday Cards for Kids in Primary

You are welcome to download and print my design—I created it using Canva (oh, how I love Canva!). I’ve also included links to the materials I used, with affiliate links at no cost to you. These help support my dream of maintaining an online journal/blog to create content I’m passionate about. Thank you for your support!

Birthdays are a wonderful opportunity to make kids feel loved and celebrated. A simple way to recognize each child in your Primary class is by creating cheerful birthday cards in advance with a small surprise tucked inside.

The Cards and Small Gifts

  • Language and Design: The cards are in Spanish since I attend a Spanish-speaking congregation, but I’ve also created versions in English. The front of the card says “Happy Birthday,” and inside, I’ve included the Primary birthday song we sing to them on their special day. While you could handwrite a message, I typically type a message and sign it as the Ward Primary Presidency before printing the cards. This keeps the process simple and saves time.
  • Small Gifts Inside the Envelope: I brainstormed lightweight items to include in each envelope that relate to the Come, Follow Me lessons for the year or carry a Christian or uplifting message. Initially, I planned to include one item per envelope, but I couldn’t resist adding almost one of each item to make the kids feel extra loved and special.

Here’s what I included:

  • Fun Stickers: I used these Christian-themed ones.
  • Small Coloring Pages: This [link] has plenty of Christian free printables.
  • Cute Bandages: Fun designs kids will love.
  • Bookmarks: With uplifting messages and cute string accents.

Organizing the Cards

  • Prepare in Advance: I made all the cards at the start of the year to save time and ensure I’m ready for every birthday. I used the holiday break when I had more time for crafts to prepare everything.
  • Label Envelopes: Write each child’s birthday on the envelope in the spot where the stamp will go. This serves as a helpful reminder and allows you to quickly cover the date with a stamp when it’s time to send or hand out the card.

I plan to create at least three additional designs to use in rotation each year. Do you know of any meaningful quotes or song lyrics that would be perfect for future primary birthday cards?
